Aiena, Pinot Noir, 2007 This wine is sourced from two different vineyards around Monterey the Mission Ranch is further from Monterey Bay, the climate is a little warmer, causing the grapes to ripen around the middle of September. This adds a darker and plush quality to the wine. Closer to the coast at the Silacci Vineyard, the grapes are still on the vine in the middle of September due to the cooling coastal influence. They are picked a few weeks later and due to the cooler climate they provide the acid backbone and bit more of the perfume to the nose. The resulting wine has the best of both worlds. $32.00
